Wonky Log Cabin Quilt
June 17, 2023 10am
Quilt size will be determined by the number of blocks you make and the number of borders you want to add. My sample baby quilt is 9 blocks about 40” by 40” with borders.
Supplies:
10” Wonky log cabin trim tool by Creative grids.
My large sample is 36 blocks about 48 strips (jelly roll plus 8 more strips and 3 1/3 yards of dark or light for contrast and 1st border, cut into 2.5” strips, or another jelly roll of 1 color.
The book “make a Quilt in a Day” by Eleanor Burns has layouts for sizes baby – queen/king. The blocks in the book are 12” so refer to the cutting directions included with the 10” Wonky log cabin trim tool by Creative grids. You can do this sub cutting in class, but all yardage for blocks needs to be in 2.5” strips at start of class.
Wonky Ruler is needed; book is optional but very helpful. Rotating Cutting Mat and small iron and ironing surface also helpful. One full size iron and ironing board available at shop. All supplies needed are available at Quilters Hollow.
