Silken Chenille - 100% silk. A beautiful 'flat' chenille rather than a 'round' chenille, hand dyed in a range of beautiful solids and multi-colors. As chenille can be a 'tender' thread, especially at the eye of the needle we suggest stitching with shorter lengths (about 18"). Surface embroidery techniques such as spider web roses, straight outline stitches around wool applique, or straight stitches on needlepoint or linen are best suited to this thread. Skeins are 20 yards.

Chenille resembles a lustrous, velvety cord. It is 100% silk, smooth, even and plush to the touch. Chenille is delicate and therefore primarily used for couching. I push this thread to its limits because it adds amazing dimension and surface interest. The key is to use short lengths of thread in order to maintain its integrity.
